STRATEGIC PROJECT MANAGEMENT

This Strategic Project Management course is designed to provide a complete understanding of project planning, execution, and closure. Across four sessions, it covers critical areas such as project strategy, stakeholder engagement, and risk management. Participants will learn to develop project scope, create Work Breakdown Structures, manage variances, and identify risks. The course also emphasizes execution techniques like monitoring progress and handling change, as well as effective project closure practices. By the end, attendees will be equipped with tools to lead projects successfully from start to finish.

Phase I: Plan techniques
This lecture focuses on covering two key phases of project planning. Phase I (Plan Techniques), explores the benefits of project management, constructing business cases, and understanding the impact of organizational structures.

Phase II: The PM Mindset
Phase II (The PM Mindset) emphasizes leadership skills such as managing relationships, building trust, and fostering team collaboration without formal authority. It highlights practical tools like work breakdown structures and prioritization techniques, helping project managers align strategies with organizational goals.

Phase III: Strategic Scope Design
This lecture focuses on essential project planning strategies, covering topics such as implementing a project strategy, utilizing requirement prioritization techniques, and designing a comprehensive project scope statement. It also includes the creation of a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) to define and manage project deliverables effectively.

Phase IV: Optimizing Project Success
In this phase, the lecture dives deeper into advanced planning techniques, such as using the triple constraint as a tool to balance scope, time, and cost, and applying stakeholder analysis techniques to ensure effective engagement and collaboration throughout the project.

Phase V: Comprehensive Project Planning: Estimation, and Scheduling
This lecture focuses on essential planning components such as risk identification and analysis, along with project estimation techniques to foresee and mitigate potential challenges. It also covers project scheduling, which ensures timelines are structured and adhered to for project success.

Phase VI: Comprehensive Project Planning: Estimation, and Scheduling – Part 2
This phase dives into managing change and resistance through the Four Ps framework (Purpose, People, Process, and Power), offering strategies to handle resistance during project execution, ensuring smoother transitions and effective project implementation.

Phase VII: Strategy Realization
This lecture will focus on Execute (continued) covering crucial topics like Monitoring and Controlling Progress, Managing Variances, and ensuring Benefit Realization throughout project execution. It also addresses Project Closure Implementations, emphasizing the importance of wrapping up projects efficiently. Additionally, the lecture highlights the significance of Achieving and Sustaining Benefits long after project completion. To conclude, there is a session on Lessons Learned, featuring a guest speaker, which helps capture valuable insights and improvements for future projects.
